Gravitation starts off with Shuichi and his best
friend Hiro. He and Hiro have had a two-person band for awhile now,
called 'Bad Luck' but haven't yet had a gig. They both idolize a band
that retired a few years back, 'Nittle Grasper'. The keyboardist of that
band now runs a record company. The good news is, Bad Luck is being
given a chance to open for an up and coming band to prove themselves to that
company. The bad news is, Shuichi doesn't have a new song ready yet, and
has had writer's block all week.
Finally, Shuichi comes up with some lyrics that
he feels he can use, but as he's walking through the park at night, they blow
out of his hand! The lyrics land at the feet of a mysterious man
smoking a cigarette. He reads the lyrics and looks at Shuichi.
"Did you write these? These lyrics suck. A grade-schooler
could write better than this."
With those words, the man walks away, leaving
Shuichi in shock. For the next few days he mopes around hopelessly, until Hiro
tells him that Shuichi is obviously in love with the man.
Shuichi is shocked, but just after that, the man appears on television!
It seems that he is actually Yuki Eiri, the famous novelist. Shuichi is
determined to win an appology and winds up at Yuki's house, where he is used
as a ploy to get a certain woman to go away.
There starts the ups and downs of their
relationship.
The series focuses both on the development of
Bad Luck as a band, and the relationship between Yuki and Shuichi.
